Picnic Table

Materials Needed:

1/8” Basswood – ½” and ¼” wide

5 pieces (table top) ½” x 6”

2 pieces (benches) ½” x 5”

4 pieces (legs) ¼” x 2 5/8”

2 pieces (table top brace) ¼” x 3”

2 pieces (leg brace) ¼” x 5”

Lay out the tabletop pieces on a flat surface with edges even.

Mark off ½” from each end of the tabletop pieces.

Place the 3” brace across the pieces at the ½” mark.  Space the boards evenly, leaving a 1/8” space between them.  I used the other pieces as a spacer and then removed them after I glued the brace down.  Repeat on the other end.

Mark 1” up on each leg piece from the bottom. Mark 1 ½” in from each end of the 5”brace. Place the mark on the brace at the 1” mark on the 2 legs and spread them diagonally so that the space at the bottom is wider than the space at the top.  My space at the top was 5/8”Glue the brace in place.  Make the other set of legs identical. Let them dry.

Glue the legs to the tabletop inside the 3” brace equal distance from each outside edge.  Let dry.

Center and glue bench on the 5” brace with outer edges flush.  Let dry.

You may paint, stain or age your table.

NOW YOU ARE READY FOR A PICNIC.

Enjoy,
